I can take action to improve the water cycle in Canterbury

I can take action to improve the water cycle in Canterbury

In this project I was working with Milan and we decided to create a online children's book

Here is a link of what we made.our story

In this project we decided that our success criteria were:
A good Children’s Story needs...
Why is this important?
It needs to be easy to read
So little kids can understand it
It needs to have colorful pictures
To keep little kids entertained
It needs to be short
Otherwise little kids are going to get bored
It needs to have characters
Little kids like characters

Overall our project met this criteria because It had 3/4 of these things

Identify classes of two- and three-dimensional shapes by their geometric properties

I
Assessment task:

Hexagons: 4
Rectangles: 4
penegons:8

leadership bog post 8 technology

on Tuesday the year 7's and 8's went to Lincoln primary school. I've nearly finished my tray. While I was there I showed the leadership traits of active thinking by organizing myself quickly and going to mandarin class.

Koru Games

The activity I participated in was touch rugby.
Two highlights of the koru games was getting to see all my old team mates because I haven't seen them in a while and winning our first game because it was fun.
I am proud of being in the A team because we had good structure and some of us had different skills then others in the team.
Next year I would like to do Rugby 7's (if we can get enough parent help) because one of my favourite sports is rugby.

leadership blog post 7 technology

Yesterday we went to technology at Lincoln primary. In woodwork we are still sanding our trays and tables. While I was the I showed the leadership value of Active thinking because we had a different teacher and she didn't really know what we were doing so I just got on with my work

Information report - Water Cycle

The water cycle is a process that water goes through between ground ocean and sky. The steps of the water cycle are: Evaporation, condensation, precipitation and runoff/ground water.

Evaporation is when the water gets heated and turns into a gas. When water hits the boiling point (around 100 degrees centigrade)it turns into a gas and rises into the atmosphere. Evaporation changes liquid and frozen water into water vapor gas. The suns energy breaks the bonds that holds water molecules together. When water vapor gas rises it forms clouds.

Condensation and precipitation is the clouds that form in the sky. water vapor gas condenses back into water and ice when it gets to cold. Higher in the atmosphere where its colder water vapor turns back into droplets. As the water droplets get heavier they can no longer float causing them to fall. Precipitation isn't always rain it could also be snow, sleet or hail. After it rains, snows sleets or hails the water needs to get back into the ocean or river this is called runoff.

Runoff/ ground water is when the water needs to get back to the ocean or river. Runoff water travels to rivers, lakes or oceans, keeping the water going. Water underground moves due to gravity downward and sideways. Ground water has purposes such as keeping plants alive and filling aquifers. Runoff is important because it flows over land. Most of it soaks into the soil and creates groundwater.

The water cycle is a process of stages: Evaporation, Condensation, precipitation, and runoff. The water cycle has no start of finish. All water is recycled

student lead conference reflection

The things I enjoyed most about my SLC were:
sharing my learning with my family

What went well and why?
showing my learning pathway because I thought that it wasn't going to show up but it
