merit blog post 1 (technology)
Yesterday the year 7 and 8's went to tech at Lincoln primary school. At the moment I am doing textiles and design. We were doing our planning and started prototyping. I am making a pillow to put in my room. while I was at tech I showed the respect value because I listened to the teachers instructions and I behaved on the bus by only talking to the person next to me quietly so the bus driver could concentrate.

I can describe the structure of a Short Story
Something I have learned about the structure of short stories is: action happens quicker but it is still interesting
After reading some short stories two things I will remember when I write my own short story are don't make it too long and keep it interesting

I Can Read And Interpret A Range Of Graphs
For maths I have been learning to read and interpret a range of graphs. This relates to the National Standards as it meets the criteria of:
- I can compare distributions visually (Year ⅞ Standard)
Here is link to my Statistical Literacy spreadsheet which shows all of the graphs and tables I can read and interpret.
I have also compared and contrasted some of the graphs. Below are the links to them
My next step is to use these in my leadership investigation next term.
writing - exposition
My two leaders were Richie McCaw and Barack Obama.
Here is my conclusion:
Therefore I think Barack Obama is a better leader with Richie McCaw no far behind. All though Richie has done a lot for New Zealand Barack is in charge of the US and has been for a while.
My next step is to use more vocabulary to make it more interesting and not boring.

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership
We have been learning all about What makes a good leader.
We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are Integrity, goal focused, trustworthy, active thinker, resilient, motivational.
The leadership trait that I think I show the most is motivational because I encourage people to give it a go when I am a PAL or at a PAL game.
The leadership trait I would most like to develop is active thinker because I'm not always making the right choices.
Something NEW I have learned about leadership is leaders are not always good sometimes they make bad decisions and think its the right one.
The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is multicultural because I cant name all of the traits in one go but I can name over half
(see slide 2 of the leadership modelling book for this)
My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learned about leadership to my own leadership roles.

Drama Improvisation Term 1
WALT: apply the techniques of improvisation to a range of different scenarios.
Improvisation techniques that I have used successfully are, thinking on the spot.
Improvisation techniques that I would like to have more practice is the name rap
The thing that I enjoyed most about this unit of learning was working with different people because I got to see what other people like and dislike
The thing that I found most challenging during this unit of learning was the name rap because I couldn't think of something that rhymed with the name that was given
My favourite improv game was the present because it was funny trying to think of what was given to you and you got to be as creative as you want
My next step/ something I need to work on further in improvisation is thinking of what to say next because I can't think for too long of the story will get boring
